Are you a person with aphasia, caregiver for someone with aphasia, or an SLP looking for ways to practice language outside of therapy? Look no further! In therapy, I often use the term “free practice” to describe language situations which have relatively low risk. Below are some great resources for “free practice”
Lingraphica’s Talkpath Therapy https://therapy.aphasia.com/
Talkpath Therapy is an exercise program created by Lingraphica and accessible via computer or Ipad. You create a free account with your email address. The exercises are divided by topic. You can use the built in supports to guide you to the correct answers. Your account can even be linked to your speech therapist’s account. Talkpath therapy is a wonderful addition to your home exercise program.
National Aphasia Association: Aphasia.org
The National Aphasia Association has a website full of information for people with aphasia, caregivers, and SLPs. My favorites items offered include the aphasia id card and their curated stories and news. This website also includes easy to understand references about therapy and apps/books to enhance communication. This is a great site to reference for those newly diagnosed.
Aphasia Recovery Connection https://www.aphasiarecoveryconnection.org/
This is an amazing resource that I just recently learned about. They offer a facebook group for people with aphasia to share their stories in a safe “free practice” place! This is where you can practice typing what you want to say and prepare to start engaging with both old and new friends again.
Lastly, Aphasia Recovery Connection and Lingraphica have joined together to provide virtual aphasia groups. They offer several meetings a week with various topics to engage persons with aphasia and caregivers. A wonderful way to practice talking with others.

Stay tuned! I’m striving to be able to offer a virtual aphasia group for Georgia in the near future!
*I have no financial connection to any of the above resources, they are simply resources I have found helpful in my practice and that I frequently share with my patients.
